That moment when you stumble into paradise
“an amazing destination that combines breathtaking beauty and rich culture.”
So today was really something special. It was one of those days where you make plans to do something but do very little research first. Now this approach can go a number of different ways; you can have such high expectations that sometimes just aren't met by the reality; you can have high expectations which are completely met or you have absolutely no idea what is on offer and completely be blown away by it. Today was definitely the latter!
I have been to Ibiza on many occasions but this is the first time I have visited with my girls so I wanted to make sure we saw as much of the different sides to Ibiza as possible. We had heard that taking a water taxi for a day trip could be a lovely day out so that's what we decided to do. So off we went to the harbour in Ibiza Old Town, bought our tickets and took the trip.
Formentera, a tiny island in Spain's Balearic Islands, is famous for its unbelievable pink sands and turquoise sea. This combination of colours is simply breathtaking and attracts tourists from all over the world. The secret behind the pink sands is tiny red and pink algae that grow in the waters surrounding the island. This gives the sand its beautiful rosy colour. As for the turquoise sea, it's a result of the crystal clear waters and the bright sunlight reflecting off it, creating a mesmerizing blue-green shade.
Visitors can bask in the beauty of Formentera's pink sands and turquoise sea at its stunning beaches. Es Pujols, Illetes, and Ses Illetes are some of the most popular beaches on the island and offer epic views of the pink sands and turquoise sea. You can also enjoy various water activities like swimming, snorkeling, and scuba diving to fully immerse yourself in the island's beauty.
Formentera isn't just about its beautiful beaches though. It also has a rich history dating back to ancient times and various historical sites to explore. You can visit the ancient Roman city of Sa Caleta to learn more about the island's past. Formentera is also home to charming villages where you can experience the local culture, taste delicious local cuisine, and buy handmade souvenirs.
In short, Formentera is an amazing destination that combines breathtaking beauty and rich culture. Whether you're looking for a relaxing beach holiday or a cultural experience, Formentera has something for everyone. So, grab your bags and head to this stunning island for an unforgettable vacation!
